Each year The Cave Foundation distributes approximately £160,000 in grants to an average of 35 charities. These are causes dear to the trustees and are usually related to: Education; Arts, Culture, Heritage, or Science; Health; Disadvantage; and Community Development. The Foundation only makes grants to registered charities.
The Foundation's activities are focused on England and Wales. Priority is given to charities operating in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire. The trustees meet twice each year, usually in May and October.
In line with the giving practices of founders Wilfrid and Constance Cave, the Foundation generally requests that grants are not publicly acknowledged.
We regret that we cannot respond to unsolicited appeals.
